Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026
1. Introduction
Raahat helps you find a clean, usable bathroom nearby. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it.
It is written to comply with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
You can use Raahat without an account. Browsing is anonymous.
2. Information we collect
- Location — your approximate position, when you allow it. Used to answer your search and then discarded. Never stored.
- Account — your email address, and your name and profile picture if your Google account has them. Plus your theme preference.
- Contributions — reviews, ratings, facility reports, photos, and places you add to the map.
- Saved places — the bookmarks you keep for yourself.
- Request counts — to control our Google API costs. Signed out, this is keyed to a one-way hash of a device identifier and your IP address. We never store the IP address itself.
- Usage — general anonymized product usage data.
We do not collect your phone number, age, gender or address.
3. How we use it
To find bathrooms near you; to show your contributions to other users; to keep your saved places available across your devices; to answer your questions; to limit abuse of the service; and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your information to profile you or to target advertising.
4. What is public and what is private
Public — visible to everyone using Raahat
Reviews, ratings, facility reports, photos, and any place you add to the map. These appear next to your display name. If you have not set one, you appear as “Someone”.
Contributed places are meant to be public. Adding the metro station toilet that Google does not list is how Raahat gets better for everyone.
Private — visible only to you
Your saved places. Saving is a private bookmark, not a contribution. Nobody else can see what you have saved, and it is never shown publicly or shared.
Your email address is never shown to other users.
5. Photos and metadata
We discard the meta data and receive the image only.
6. Sharing and disclosure
- Google Maps Platform — supplies the map and place information, and receives your approximate location as part of answering your search. Google’s own privacy policy governs what it does with that: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Analytics — receives which screens you open and which actions you take, along with an approximate location Google works out from your IP address. It does not receive the places you look at or the words you search for. The same Google privacy policy governs it.
- Our service providers — the database, authentication, storage and hosting providers that run the service on our behalf, under contract, and only for that purpose. Our database and photo storage are located in India.
- Legal requirements — where compelled by law, court order or authority.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger or sale.
We do not and will never sell your personal information.
7. Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Our database enforces, at the database level, that you can only alter your own reviews, photos and saved places. We never see or store your password.
8. Your rights
You may access, correct or erase your personal data, and withdraw consent at any time.
You can delete your own photos and reviews from the Contribute screen. For account deletion, write to needraahat@gmail.com and we will action it.
You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Cookies
We use cookies to help improve your product experience and for general anonymized product usage analytics compliant with industry standards. We don't use any advertising cookies.
10. Children
Raahat is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date above will change, and significant changes will be announced in the app.
